A meticulous and assiduous performer, teacher, and most importantly, musician, Juan Villasenor is a Brass player in the North Bay area. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Sonoma State University where he studied under Anthony Collins, Scott Thornton, and Jonathan Sieberlich.
While growing up, all Juan wanted to do was play music just as plenty of his family did back in his hometown of Zirahuen, Michoacan, Mexico. While his main instrument is Tuba, Juan initially started on Trumpet, switched to Euphonium in Middle school, and became proficient in both Trombone and French Horn throughout High School.
Juan has had the pleasure to perform in venues such as Weill Hall, and Carnegie Hall, marched all across the state of California, and even toured across Spain. He has also been a member of various ensembles that include Sonoma County Honor Band, and Northern California Honor Band, Principal Tuba player for the Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestra, Principal player in various Sonoma State Ensembles, as well as sitting in with the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in their Brass Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, and Orchestra.
Juan has also had the privilege to be a ringer for various ensembles which include the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Golden State Youth Orchestra, and the Symphony of the Redwoods. Some performance highlights would include masterclasses for Principal players of the Santa Rosa Symphony, Sacramento Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, and a member of the President’s Own.
